I am so excited to be participating in the biggest thing to sweep the blogosphere since . . . well, I don't know what, but it sure is fun and exciting! Carol Anne over at This Is Rock Salt has organized a pen pal food swap in Europe, much like The Lean Bean Green has done in the States. Link up here or on the right hand side of my blog to see how you can become a foodie pen pal too!
Basically, Carol Anne matches everyone up with another foodie and we are responsible for sending them a food package, spending no more than 10 euros, and in return we also get a food package from another foodie. Before putting together our parcel we contact the recipient and get some info, like any food allergies, likes, dislikes, healthy vs. sweets, cook vs. baker, etc. You can send ready to eat food, or food that needs to be prepared, or spices, or whatever!
I lucked out because I got to send some food goodies to Sheila, who was happy to receive a mishmash of anything I wanted to send. Here's what Sheila had to say about my package:
My parcel just arrived and I love it! Thanks so so much. I've just eaten my first stroppwafel with a cup of coffee. Deeeelish! Certainly brightened up a gloomy grey Monday in the office.
Also I absolutely love your little personalised notecards. How sweet.
Thanks again, so much. Just made my day!

Here are some pictures of the package I sent her, along with some pics of her receiving it!

Last Monday I received my foodie pen pal package from Jessica and I couldn't be happier! She sent lots of goodies for my sweet boy, some yummy oatmeal and decadent chocolate for us, and even drew pictures of our dog, Murphy! I was so impressed! This was my first time doing Foodie Pen Pals, but the bar has been set!

I'm looking forward to doing this each month, but love that I can opt in or out if things get busy and I don't have the time that month. I especially love that I get a package each month with foods from different countries, or foods that I haven't tried but want to, or foods that I haven't even heard of! It's a fabulous idea and I love being a part of it!

Aww, what a cute pic! I'm glad the Goodies that I picked were okay :) I'm so happy that you enjoyed the Foodie Penpal swap and want to continue doing them - I feel the same way!
